We were thrilled to have the opportunity to interview the talented Suzie Ungerleider for our podcast, "The Sound of the World Changing." Suzie's unique blend of folk and Americana has made her one of the genre’s most exciting and dynamic performers, and her insights and stories about her career and experiences were truly captivating.
Suzie shared with us some of her earliest memories of the festival as a 'festival brat', recalling the thrill of watching performers on the main stage and the excitement of discovering new artists and genres as a youth.

She spoke fondly of the sense of community and connection that the festival fosters, and she emphasized the importance of events like the Vancouver Folk Music Festival in bringing people together around a shared love of music and culture.
As a parent now, Suzie has continued to share her love of the festival with her child, taking him to the event each year and watching as he discovers the same joys and excitement that she experienced as a child. She spoke movingly about the importance of passing down traditions and values to the next generation, and about how the Vancouver Folk Music Festival has become a part of her family's story and history.
Throughout our interview, Suzie's warmth, humour, and passion for music shone through. Her memories of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival were a testament to the power of music to bring people together, inspire, and create lasting connections and traditions.
