Matthew Arbeid has a deep connection to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival and has been involved with the festival for many years. He started as a volunteer in 1990 and eventually became a committee coordinator, playing an important role as one of the many volunteers running the festival.

Even after moving to Toronto in 1994, Matthew continued to be involved with the festival until 2001.
 

With his extensive knowledge and experience of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival and the world of folk music, Matthew brings a unique perspective to "The Sound of the World Changing" podcast. Listeners will enjoy his insightful commentary and behind-the-scenes stories as he shares his passion for the festival and the genre.

Dugg Simpson is a veteran in the music industry and a respected leader in the folk music community. He has over three decades of experience at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, where he started as a volunteer and worked his way up to become the artistic director. Dugg's passion and commitment to the festival have been evident throughout his career. As artistic director, Dugg brought fresh energy to the festival by booking a diverse range of acts that attracted a wider audience. 
 

Due to his vast knowledge of the festival and its history, as well as his background as a music industry expert, Dugg is an excellent choice as co-host for "The Sound of the World Changing" podcast. The Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes place on on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples – Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sÉ™lilwÉ™taɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations, and the beloved home of the xÊ·mÉ™θkÊ·É™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam) nation where the festival occurs. 

 

This website and podcast was created on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, (Anishinaabe), the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.
