My social medial feeds are full of the news. The Vancouver Folk Music Festival's board has announced there's no festival this year, and, they'll be folding the Society.

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival has been an incredibly special part of my life for many years. Attending the festival as a volunteer and committee coordinator was a formative experience that helped shape my love for folk music and community events.

Disabled now and healing from spine surgery has gifted me with a LOT of time on my hands. I choose to think about positive things, so, I thought about my own memories and experiences at the festival. Having experience in both leading committees but also in creating them and I saw a need. I have the tools, broadcast/podcast knowledge and connections. I reached out to a couple of people to see if my idea has merit.

I believe that it's important to raise awareness of this festival and its significance to our community. By sharing my own memories and experiences, as well as interviewing others who have been involved with the festival, I hope to celebrate its legacy and inspire others to support its continuation in some way. The Vancouver Folk Music Festival has been a source of joy, connection, and cultural enrichment for countless people over the years, and I believe it deserves to be celebrated and preserved for generations to come.

I hope you enjoy what I hope will be an entertaining and informative podcast series.

Matthew
